About Avril

I completed a Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy in Dublin Business School in 2008, where I achieved first-class honours. I was also awarded the privilege of Student of the Year for my final year thesis. For eighteen years I have worked in private practice supporting clients struggling with a wide range of life’s challenges.  I concluded my clinical supervision training in 2021 and I am a fully qualified supervisor with IACP. I  also finished a Certificate in Sport and Performance Psychology in IADT; as many internal problems we face can often emerge through the prism of sport. Also during this time I finalised my `Certificate in Couples Counselling with PCI in order to expand my practice to meet the psychotherapeutic demand for services. I have recently (2024) completed a Diploma in Integrative Adolescent Psychotherapy (IACP accredited) and can work with adolescents aged 12+  and their parents. 

Prior to training and working as a psychotherapist, I initially studied Commerce, Accounting, and a Masters in Business Studies, Human Resource Management, in UCD. I worked as a management consultant for seven years before joining a banking organisation where I worked in Human Resources for five years. I am fully accredited member and supervisor of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and an accredited member of the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP).

I am married with three adolescents/young adults, love sport, nature and walking my dogs.
