Adolescent Psychotherapy is about providing a safe and supportive therapeutic environment for adolescents. The adolescent developmental process in itself is challenging, physically, emotionally, cognitively, socially and behavioural. One of the main goals of adolescence therapy is to help build and accept a strong sense of identity. A multi-model approach is used in working with adolescents drawing on evidence-based theories and techniques that have proven effectiveness when working with teenagers. The approach adopted is interactive and relaxed, sometimes involving other creative interventions but taking place within a collaborative and confidential therapeutic space.

I can help an Adolescent client with:

  • Bereavement and loss
  • Parental separation
  • Low self-esteem or body-image issues
  • Depression
  • General anxiety including panic attacks
  • Social anxiety
  • Anger issues
  • Bullying
  • Addiction – mild to moderate
  • Sexuality and gender issues
  • Trauma recovery
  • School refusal
  • Stress

When working with adolescents, U18s, the process requires the consent and collaboration of both parents/guardians where possible and depending on the individual adolescent. That will be determined at the initial appointment phase and also if we decide to work together.
